Starting line-up of the sixth match day

We watched the derby of the matchday in Kamnik, where Calcit Volley faced i-Vent Maribor. The home side badly needed a win; a second consecutive defeat in their own hall would have been a very poor springboard for the rest of the season. After a convincing first set, they eased off in the second, but in the third and fourth sets coach Rozman finally found the right starting six. Črt Bošnjak has now become a regular member of the team of the matchday, and this time he was joined by libero Matevž Kardža Pevc, who was a clear target of Maribor’s servers but coped more than solidly with all the pressure, even in key moments. Alpacem Kanal beat Merkur Triglav Kranj in four sets, although the Kranj team put on a more than pleasing performance. Opposite Jaka Sešek once again features in the team of the matchday, having clearly found the right balance in developing his volleyball potential. Also returning to the team is outside hitter Dino Vinkovič. In Murska Sobota, ACH Volley Ljubljana defeated the home side, Panvita Pomgrad, in three sets. For the first time this season we saw outside hitter Jan Klobučar on court. Opposite Štern and setter Ropret played the opening set before giving way to Alen Šket and Nejc Najdič, who both did a more than solid job; Najdič enters the team of the matchday for the first time after simply not having had enough opportunities in previous matches. Meanwhile, Alen Pajenk is like fine wine – the older he gets, the better he becomes; he was everywhere, in attack, at the block and from the service line. The matchday began in the afternoon in Novo mesto, where the home team, after a sleepy start, shifted up a gear and used their height advantage to full effect. Middle blocker Danijel Koncilja was unstoppable and makes his first appearance in the team of the matchday.
