Starting line-up of the fifth match day

On Saturday the fifteenth and Sunday the sixteenth of November, the fifth match day of the Sportklub First Men’s Volleyball League was played.

i-Vent Maribor remain undefeated in the national league, which is somewhat surprising. For the second match in a row, the Maribor side managed to win in the closing stages of sets – something that, this season, Panvita Pomgrad simply cannot make work for them when it comes to tight set finishes. Calcit Volley suffered their first defeat, and that despite having a chance to turn the match around only in the third set. Črt Bošnjak simply could not do everything on his own. The blocking line of Alpacem Kanal’s coach, Gregor Jerončič – once an outstanding middle blocker himself – performed excellently. Fužinar Ravne comfortably defeated Merkur Triglav Kranj in the bottom-of-the-table derby, securing their first points of the season. After Thursday’s Champions League drama, ACH Volley Ljubljana still allow no surprises in the domestic league: the Ljubljana side saw off a solid Krka in straight sets. Half of ACH’s key players were rested, their minds clearly already on the next and decisive round of Champions League qualification.

Pro bono advocate of inclusive mobility and integrated transport infrastructure—rail, bus and cycling—within the Mobilitatis Omni association. A year-round train cyclist.
