Starting line-up of the ninth match-day
Let’s go through it step by step. ACH Volley Ljubljana, preparing for their first match in the Champions League group stage, came through their dress rehearsal against Alpacem Kanal — whom they had only managed to beat in five sets in the second matchday — without a scratch, not dropping a single set, although without any particular brilliance either.
Panvita Pomgrad, on the other side of Slovenia in Murska Sobota, claimed their second consecutive five-set win, this time over Krka. Krka, in contrast, suffered their second straight defeat in a deciding set and return from two away fixtures with just two points.
Fužinar looked to be in a very promising position at Ravne against i-Vent Maribor, but the closing stages proved fatal for them, and the Maribor side returned from Carinthia with all three points.
The least they showed — somewhat surprisingly after two solid performances — were the players of Merkur Triglav Kranj, who were unable to mount any real challenge against Calcit Volley in Kamnik.
