Starting line-up of the seventh match day
Matchday seven brought quite a few surprises. In Kanal we saw another confirmation of i-Vent Maribor’s strong form, showing that the defeat in Kamnik the previous week was only a slip. Beating Alpacem Kanal in their own hall is no easy task, and the well-constructed Maribor sidecontinues to prove that it will be among the main contenders for the top places in the national championship. Both receivers, Žiga Donik and Bryan Camino Martinez, earned their place in the best lineup of the week. The second and even bigger surprise came from Merkur Triglav Kranj, who delivered an outstanding performance to sweep Krka from Novo mesto in straight sets. The team from Kranj had already shown promising play in Kanal last week, and this time they clinically defeated the team from Dolenjska. They do not have a representative in the official best lineup, but middle blocker Uroš Tučen, outside hitter Jaka Cestnik and libero Nejc Zalokar were all serious contenders for a starting spot. The middle-blocker positions in the lineup are filled by two players from ACH Volley Ljubljana: once again Alenk Pajenk, and for the first time Jošt Kržič. The libero position is also occupied by the reigning champions’ representative, national team libero Jani Kovačič. ACH Volley Ljubljana allowed no surprises; in a TV-broadcast match in front of 250 spectators, they defeated Calcit Volley in straight sets, playing just well enough to secure a comfortable win. The final player in the lineup of the week is Panvita Pomgrad’s opposite hitter, Sani Adžović, who scored a total of sixteen points and achieved an impressive 76% attacking efficiency. Outstanding.
